6 The Mediterranean: Cultures, Peoples, Rights by M. Pascali
The Mediterranean is a space shaped by shifting borders, geopolitical tensions, and new forms of coexistence. Migration lies at its core – a structural phenomenon that challenges economies, legal systems, educational practices, and social frameworks. Developed within the M.E.D.I.A.T.I.O.N. (Horizon Europe Seeds 2021) and coordinated by Adriana Schiedi, this volume offers an interdisciplinary perspective – sociological, pedagogical, legal, and economic – on the transformations reshaping the Euro-Mediterranean region. From intercultural entrepreneurship and multicultural governance to media narratives, emerging rights, environmental justice, and inclusive education, the book moves beyond emergency-driven narratives and reclaims the Mediterranean as a bridge between peoples. A concise yet powerful contribution to rethinking migration, citizenship, and sustainability as shared challenges of our time.
