Leveraging Digital Transformation for Sustainable Development. Strategies and Impacts examines the relationship between digital transformation and sustainable development within contemporary organizations, economies, and societies. The book argues that digital technologies — including artificial intelligence, cloud computing, the Internet of Things, blockchain, and digital platforms — are not intrinsically sustainable. Instead, their contribution to sustainability is contingent upon deliberate design, governance, and assessment aligned with environmental, social, and ethical standards. Adopting a multidisciplinary perspective, the volume explores both the opportunities and risks associated with digitalization, including energy-intensive infrastructures, e-waste, algorithmic accountability, digital inclusion, corporate social responsibility, and sustainable innovation. Utilizing theoretical frameworks, ESG-focused metrics, comparative case studies, and future- oriented reflections, the book provides conceptual and practical tools for aligning digital transformation with ecological boundaries, social justice, and responsible governance.
